Darebin Council is proud to unveil a prominent new mural at Bundoora Park, designed and installed by Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung artist and cultural consultant, Alex Kerr.
This project is led by Elders and Representatives of the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung Cultural Heritage Aboriginal Corporation, in collaboration with Darebin Council.
Following on from the Bundoora Homestead Truth-Telling display launched in 2023, this new mural continues to tell the story of the past, present and future Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung people and their continuing connection to Country at Bundoora.
“We have our ancestors in the stars above us, watching over us ensuring we stay strong in our culture, no matter what obstacles are thrown our way and lastly, we have Waa (the crow) our protector sitting in the trees watching over Country and our people,” Alex Kerr says of his design.
“This is all about our strong cultural, spiritual connection to Country and the importance to keep this intact for the future generations coming through.”
You can find the mural via the Bundoora Park Farm main entrance. Ask the Farm staff for directions if you aren’t sure!
