BirdLife Australia is inviting Darebin residents to take part in the Aussie Bird Count! A national event where everyday people help track the birds in their local area.

Birds are part of our daily lives, and they tell a story about the health of our environment. With one in six Australian birds under threat, every count helps.

It’s easy to join in, and a great way to connect with nature while supporting bird conservation!

How to participate

  1. Register at the Aussie Bird Count website
  2. Download the free Aussie Bird Count app
  3. Spend 20 minutes counting birds anytime between 20–26 October
  4. Submit your count through the app or website
  5. Repeat as often as you like during the week
  6. Follow the Sustainable Darebin Facebook group for updates and bird inspiration

New to Birdwatching?

You don’t need to be an expert, just curious! The Aussie Bird Count app helps you identify birds and makes it simple to take part.
