Take action and stand in solidarity with survivors of family and gender-based violence.

Weaving Against Violence

Take a moment to slow down at this busy time of year and join us at the IC, together with local fibre artists and members of the Ava Tapestry Groups. Bring your own project along, or try your hand at basket-weaving, macrame, tapestry, or crochet with recycled t-shirt material. Materials provided and no experience necessary.

This gentle action is in support of 16 Days Against Gender-based Violence - a global campaign for the prevention and elimination of violence against women and girls. This year's theme is “Respect Is…”

Family violence is largely driven by gender inequality and it impacts everyone, including men. But violence against women, girls, and gender-diverse people is experienced at much higher rates – and it is preventable. Help create Victorian communities where everyone is safe, equal and respected. All ages, all genders welcome. Registration essential.

***Note: If you or someone you know is experiencing family violence, help is available. Contact The Orange Door: www.orangedoor.vic.gov.au or call 000 if you are in immediate danger.
