Darebin’s Road Management Plan

The Road Management Plan (RMP), under the provisions of the Victorian Road Management Act 2004, and the Road Management (General) Regulations 2016, outlines standards and responsibilities for maintaining the local road network.

The Road Management Plan is reviewed every four years and requires a community engagement and consultation period.

Darebin City Council has reviewed the current Road Management Plan 2021, expiring in 2025 and has prepared a new draft Road Management Plan for 2025–2029 that balances legal liability, resources, and community expectations.

We want to hear from you before we take the next step – are there any gaps?

For further information on the review of the Draft Management Plan and the opportunity to have your say in your language from 4 September to 1 October, please visit Council’s Your Say page at Draft Road Management Plan 2025 | Your Say Darebin or contact the Operations and Waste team via email at city.works@darebin.vic.gov.au.

Darebin City Council manages an extensive road network on behalf of the community.

This road network provides connectivity to residents, visitors and businesses across the municipality.

Our Road Management Plan sets out:

  • How we responsibly manage Council's road network
  • How we meet expectations
  • The level of service we aim to provide
  • A framework for management and decision making
