Role of the building surveyor

Your building surveyor is a trained building professional and key member of your team and will help you deliver your building project.

Your team of professionals will include, but not be limited to:

  • your architect or draftsperson – to prepare drawings and documentation for planning and building approvals
  • your builder – to complete the construction to meet building regulations and standards, who also assists in obtaining the correct permits, and have all insurances in place
  • your building surveyor – acts as a regulator on your project, completing site visits to check on the quality of work and to issue the building permit (before work commences), and eventually the occupancy permit once the works are complete.
