We accept donated goods and sell items

We accept some donated goods that are in good condition and sell them on at our Recycled Goods Shop.

The Recycled Goods Shop is open 7 days a week, from 8.30am—3pm and located at Darebin Resource Recovery Centre at 30 Kurnai Avenue in Reservoir.

The Shop's purpose is to reduce landfill by offering an affordable alternative, providing second-hand items to the public at a fraction of the cost.

How can I donate items at the Recycled Goods Shop?

  1. Take your donated items to 30 Kurnai Avenue, Reservoir
  2. Drive in and stop at the drive through donation area
  3. A team member will greet you to inspect your donations for the following conditions:
    • Items need to be in resalable condition, free of stains, rips, tears and in working order
    • Team members have the right to reject donations if they think items are not in a reasonable condition 

What items are accepted?

Much of what's dropped at the Darebin Resource Recovery Centre is recycled, including e-waste, metals and plastics. Items chosen for resale at the Recycled Goods Shop may be exempt from fees.

The shop will accept these items if they're in good condition:

  • Furniture, both indoor and outdoor
  • Camping gear such as tents and chairs 
  • Tools in good operational condition such as working hand and garden tools
  • Bicycles and scooters  
  • Sporting goods
  • Exercise equipment 
  • Play equipment 
  • Toys and games 
  • Books 
  • CDs, DVDs and vinyl records
  • Kitchen items
  • Pet carriers that are in working condition
  • Bric-a-brac including home decor and picture frames

Items that are not accepted

  • Baby cots, car seats and change tables
  • Baby clothing
  • Bed bases
  • Mattresses
  • Sheets and blankets
  • School textbooks and encyclopaedias
  • Medical supplies
  • Pornography
  • Chemicals
  • Knifes
