On 29 April 2024, a Council Meeting was held for the Darebin City Council.
Mr Zammit's submission was met by a response from 2 Councillors. The responses to Mr Zammit were phrased in an adversarial manner, and included certain allegations.
It is the Council's wish that proceedings before it are undertaken in an open, fair, and constructive manner. The Darebin Council regrets that its proceedings on 29 April were not consistent with its aspirations.
Given that the exchange on the 29th of April was inconsistent with the Council's goals, it edited the livestream of the meeting that was otherwise available via its website. It did this to avoid causing unnecessary tension in the community. Darebin Council apologises to Mr Zammit in relation to any distress caused by these matters.
It is the Council's wish that its residents, councillors, and officers are able to interact in a mutually useful and responsible way. The Council will continue to work towards its goals and wishes Mr Zammit well in his future dealings with Council and generally.
