I'm removing a pool or spa

If you're removing a pool or spa, Step 1 is to complete the suggested steps to decommission, depending on the type of pool/spa you have.  Step 2 is to complete your decommissioning request online so that Council can inspect and remove the pool/spa from the register:

Do I need a building permit?

You need a building permit to build or install a swimming pool or spa that is capable of holding more than 300mls of water.

You don't need a building permit for general pool or spa maintenance, as long as:

  • you use materials commonly used for the same purpose as what you're replacing
  • it doesn't adversely affect the safety of the public or occupiers of the building.
