Why were these regulations introduced?
The Victorian Government introduced this new legislation to ensure pools and spas are as safe as possible for everyone. These regulations apply to pool and spa owners all over Victoria.

I'm removing a pool or spa
If you're removing a pool or spa, you can complete your decommissioning request online:
Do I need a building permit?
You need a building permit to build or install a swimming pool or spa that is capable of holding more than 300 millimetres of water.
You don't need a building permit for general pool or spa maintenance, as long as:
- you use materials commonly used for the same purpose as what you're replacing
- it doesn't adversely affect the safety of the public or occupiers of the building.
