Darebin City Council mourns the loss of Cr Gaetano Greco. Cr Greco was a Darebin City Councillor from 2008 – 2025 and also served as Mayor in 2013-2014.
Throughout his long and dedicated career serving the people of Darebin, Cr Greco was a tireless advocate for social justice, community wellbeing, and inclusive governance. He was a driving force in active engagement and dialogue between cultures and fought for equity of community outcomes between the North and South of Darebin. Cr Greco always made time to listen and respond to requests or concerns from the community, and he championed decision making that was informed by community voices and views.
Cr Greco’s leadership and vision is evident in his steering of Council’s agenda to support local businesses, save the Preston Market and support its ongoing viability, always guided by the views of his constituents.
We thank Cr Greco for the remarkable legacy he leaves in making Darebin a better place
