Precautions over street alignment

You need our approval to erect precautions, also known as hoardings, over the street alignment. Find out how this applies to you.

Before and during building works, the relevant building surveyor decides on any precautions to protect the safety of the public (Regulation 116, Building Regulations 2018)

The surveyor is also responsible for approving precautions before building works start. An example could be approving a type of hoarding and assessing its suitability for the proposed work.

The fees vary depending on the location, class of building and length of the proposed works. This form can also be used to seek approval for a temporary road closure.
