Moon Rabbit and Bridge Darebin Preston go all-electric at 218 High St Preston

Moon Rabbit is a social enterprise, zero waste cafe and totally committed to sustainability. It also offers practical training opportunities for young adults with additional learning needs. All income it earns helps support the community programs Bridge Darebin run. Moon Rabbit is a real sustainability leader. Watch this short Moon Rabbit video to find out more.

As a sustainability leader Moon Rabbit was committed to going all-electric. Their last appliance to get off gas was a gas-boosted solar hot water system. At the time of installation this system was the lowest greenhouse-impact solution but it was at end-of-life in 2023 when it was upgraded to an electric heat pump hot water system.

This upgrade not only took Moon Rabbit to an all-electric status, but also the Bridge Darebin Preston building which consists of offices and community rooms.

Darebin’s Energy$mart program helped organise and subsidise the installation of the heat pump hot water system.

Chris Lombardo, Chief Executive Officer, said “At Bridge Darebin, we pride ourselves on our energy initiatives and climate emergency responses. At our Preston site at 218 High Street, we are now all electric. Thanks again for helping us to achieve this goal.”
